Review Eachine E011 Mini

Banggood.com

Today I'm looking at the Eachine E011 "Block Drone". This is a small quad that's another "Inductrix Clone". The headline characteristic that makes it stand out it the highest plate has constructing block / Lego attachments! Also, it comes with a lego-ish mini-figure, that gets to experience the quad like a skateboard. Fun, right? Well, let's get into this evaluate, and see if this is "just one other clone" or if it could actually stand out...

Flying

Plug in the battery, and the quad LED's give a sluggish blink. Switch on the distant, and the quad LED's go to a fast blink as they bind, then give steady on as soon as it is able to fly. Give the quad a blip of throttle, and if the mini-fig shouldn't be loaded, the quad will practically leap into the air. Without the additional weight of the mini-figure, there is nearly not enough down throttle - it is robust to hover easy as a result of you are a the very backside end of the throttle range. Add the little man, or other cargo, and it smooths out. Remember these 716 motors? yea, they have the power! Loaded up, the quad is still very zippy, and climbs joyful and rapidly. Throttle blips are rewarded with nice hops within the air. Flying is smooth. The quad does have two "charge" modes, low and high. the small button under the throttle switches modes - one press gives a double beep for high charges, one other press gives one beep for low charges. In low, it moves around smoothly, and velocity / tilt / yaw are simple to manage. In High, it get a bit more spirited. Still simple to control, but will preserve newbies on their toes as it zips around. Experienced pilots will most definitely wish to jump straight to the high charges. Overall, the one bad habit I discovered with the quad is with the throttle low range. I wish it was a bit smoother on the underside finish, as it appears to chop energy usually when I'm descending. And, as talked about earlier than - flying unloaded, it nearly won't hover, on account of this.

Battery life

Battery life is nice. I was persistently getting 6 minutes with the inventory battery. One flight, I ran the primary 3-Four minutes with the mini-figure, then the last half with out and received a stable 7 minutes flight. Overall, I just like the stock battery, no complaints. I did additionally fly the quad with some Amazon batteries I purchased for my Syma X11. These are 380mah packs, with no printed C-rating. They are only flying for 5 minutes, with a noticeable decrease in punch. They do fly the quad good, however the inventory battery is better. As a facet observe, Banggood sells a 5-pack of those batteries, with a multi-pack charger, for about $16.

Mods

So we've got a great flying quad, with good battery life, and power to spare, what to do? How about FPV! I had a EF-01 FPV digicam that I had used to FPV a small RC car, so I pulled it for the E011. The EF-01 came with a mounting plate that, as luck would have it, was an actual fit for some unused mounting holes on the highest of the quad. The primary battery plug for the quad was situated so that it was easy to solder on the camera energy lead, so a number of screws later, I was ready to fly FPV!

Camera power wires soldered to the back facet of the quad's battery plug

The EF-01 camera was very close in weight to the mini-figure, so flying performance was comparable. Unfortunately for me, my digital camera died before I could fly it more than a few short flights (the digital camera already had issues from it's automotive duty days). for certain, although, I shall be ordering a brand new digicam.

Summary

I've had lots of fun with this quad. It is an efficient flyer, has good battery life, and has loads of energy. My kids additionally like it - they'll add Legos to it and construct cockpits and different stuff. The quad can carry a decent quantity, however it will run out of power in a couple of dozen small blocks. With the ducted props, it easily bounces off of stuff when flying, so small bumps do not routinely mean crashes - which is good for learning to fly. Overall I actually favored this quad, and give it two thumbs up!
