Eachine E011 "LEGO" micro quadcopter review & test flight

Review Eachine E011 Mini

Banggood.com

Today I'm wanting on the Eachine E011 "Block Drone". This is a small quad that is one other "Inductrix Clone". The headline function that makes it stand out it the highest plate has building block / Lego attachments! Also, it comes with a lego-ish mini-figure, that gets to ride the quad like a skateboard. Fun, proper? Well, let's get into this evaluation, and see if this is "simply one other clone" or if it can stand out...

Flying

Plug in the battery, and the quad LED's give a gradual blink. Switch on the remote, and the quad LED's go to a quick blink as they bind, then give steady on once it is ready to fly. Give the quad a blip of throttle, and if the mini-fig is just not loaded, the quad will practically leap into the air. Without the extra weight of the mini-figure, there is almost not enough down throttle - it is powerful to hover smooth as a result of you're a the very bottom finish of the throttle range. Add the little man, or other cargo, and it smooths out. Remember those 716 motors? yea, they have the ability! Loaded up, the quad is still very zippy, and climbs pleased and shortly. Throttle blips are rewarded with nice hops in the air. Flying is easy. The quad does have two "price" modes, low and high. the small button under the throttle switches modes - one press provides a double beep for top charges, another press gives one beep for low charges. In low, it moves round smoothly, and speed / tilt / yaw are straightforward to handle. In High, it get a bit extra spirited. Still simple to regulate, but will maintain freshmen on their toes because it zips around. Experienced pilots will most certainly need to leap straight to the high rates. Overall, the one bad behavior I discovered with the quad is with the throttle low range. I wish it was a bit smoother on the bottom end, as it seems to cut power usually when I'm descending. And, as talked about earlier than - flying unloaded, it nearly will not hover, on account of this.

Battery life

Battery life is good. I was consistently getting 6 minutes with the stock battery. One flight, I ran the first 3-4 minutes with the mini-figure, then the final half without and obtained a strong 7 minutes flight. Overall, I just like the inventory battery, no complaints. I did additionally fly the quad with some Amazon batteries I bought for my Syma X11. These are 380mah packs, with no printed C-rating. They are solely flying for 5 minutes, with a noticeable lower in punch. They do fly the quad good, however the stock battery is better. As a facet word, Banggood sells a 5-pack of these batteries, with a multi-pack charger, for about $16.

Mods

So we now have an incredible flying quad, with good battery life, and power to spare, what to do? How about FPV! I had a EF-01 FPV digicam that I had used to FPV a small RC car, so I pulled it for the E011. The EF-01 came with a mounting plate that, as luck would have it, was an exact fit for some unused mounting holes on the top of the quad. The fundamental battery plug for the quad was positioned in order that it was simple to solder on the digicam power lead, so a couple of screws later, I used to be able to fly FPV!

Camera power wires soldered to the again aspect of the quad's battery plug

The EF-01 camera was very shut in weight to the mini-figure, so flying efficiency was similar. Unfortunately for me, my camera died earlier than I might fly it various brief flights (the digital camera already had points from it's car duty days). for sure, although, I shall be ordering a new camera.

Summary

I have had lots of fun with this quad. It is a good flyer, has good battery life, and has loads of power. My youngsters also prefer it - they'll add Legos to it and build cockpits and different stuff. The quad can lift a good quantity, however it'll run out of energy in about a dozen small blocks. With the ducted props, it easily bounces off of stuff when flying, so small bumps don't routinely mean crashes - which is good for learning to fly. Overall I actually preferred this quad, and provides it two thumbs up!
