Review Eachine E011 Mini

Banggood.com

Today I'm trying on the Eachine E011 "Block Drone". This is a small quad that is another "Inductrix Clone". The headline characteristic that makes it stand out it the highest plate has constructing block / Lego attachments! Also, it comes with a lego-ish mini-figure, that will get to ride the quad like a skateboard. Fun, proper? Well, let's get into this overview, and see if this is "simply another clone" or if it could stand out...

Flying

Plug within the battery, and the quad LED's give a gradual blink. Switch on the distant, and the quad LED's go to a quick blink as they bind, then give steady on once it is able to fly. Give the quad a blip of throttle, and if the mini-fig shouldn't be loaded, the quad will practically leap into the air. Without the additional weight of the mini-figure, there is nearly not sufficient down throttle - it's powerful to hover easy because you are a the very backside finish of the throttle vary. Add the little man, or different cargo, and it smooths out. Remember these 716 motors? yea, they have the power! Loaded up, the quad continues to be very zippy, and climbs happy and rapidly. Throttle blips are rewarded with nice hops within the air. Flying is easy. The quad does have two "price" modes, high and low. the small button beneath the throttle switches modes - one press provides a double beep for prime rates, one other press provides one beep for low charges. In low, it strikes round easily, and velocity / tilt / yaw are simple to handle. In High, it get a bit more spirited. Still simple to control, but will preserve novices on their toes as it zips round. Experienced pilots will most certainly need to bounce straight to the excessive charges. Overall, the one bad behavior I discovered with the quad is with the throttle low range. I wish it was a bit smoother on the underside finish, because it appears to cut energy usually when I am descending. And, as talked about before - flying unloaded, it nearly will not hover, due to this.

Battery life

Battery life is nice. I used to be persistently getting 6 minutes with the stock battery. One flight, I ran the primary 3-4 minutes with the mini-figure, then the final half with out and received a stable 7 minutes flight. Overall, I like the stock battery, no complaints. I did also fly the quad with some Amazon batteries I purchased for my Syma X11. These are 380mah packs, with no printed C-rating. They are only flying for 5 minutes, with a noticeable decrease in punch. They do fly the quad good, but the inventory battery is best. As a side observe, Banggood sells a 5-pack of those batteries, with a multi-pack charger, for about $16.

Mods

So we have now an ideal flying quad, with good battery life, and energy to spare, what to do? How about FPV! I had a EF-01 FPV camera that I had used to FPV a small RC car, so I pulled it for the E011. The EF-01 came with a mounting plate that, as luck would have it, was a precise match for some unused mounting holes on the top of the quad. The important battery plug for the quad was positioned in order that it was straightforward to solder on the camera energy lead, so a few screws later, I used to be ready to fly FPV!

Camera power wires soldered to the again aspect of the quad's battery plug

The EF-01 camera was very close in weight to the mini-figure, so flying performance was similar. Unfortunately for me, my digital camera died earlier than I could fly it quite a lot of brief flights (the digicam already had issues from it's car obligation days). for sure, although, I shall be ordering a brand new digicam.

Summary

I have had a lot of fun with this quad. It is an efficient flyer, has good battery life, and has loads of energy. My kids also prefer it - they will add Legos to it and construct cockpits and other stuff. The quad can carry a decent quantity, however it will run out of energy in a couple of dozen small blocks. With the ducted props, it simply bounces off of stuff when flying, so small bumps do not mechanically mean crashes - which is good for studying to fly. Overall I really liked this quad, and provides it two thumbs up!
