Tiny Whoop in the Park (Eachine E011)

Review Eachine E011 Mini

Banggood.com

Today I'm trying at the Eachine E011 "Block Drone". This is a small quad that is another "Inductrix Clone". The headline characteristic that makes it stand out it the top plate has building block / Lego attachments! Also, it comes with a lego-ish mini-figure, that will get to ride the quad like a skateboard. Fun, right? Well, let's get into this overview, and see if this is "simply another clone" or if it could stand out...

Flying

Plug within the battery, and the quad LED's give a slow blink. Switch on the remote, and the quad LED's go to a quick blink as they bind, then give steady on once it is able to fly. Give the quad a blip of throttle, and if the mini-fig isn't loaded, the quad will practically leap into the air. Without the extra weight of the mini-figure, there's almost not sufficient down throttle - it is tough to hover smooth because you are a the very backside end of the throttle range. Add the little man, or different cargo, and it smooths out. Remember those 716 motors? yea, they've the ability! Loaded up, the quad is still very zippy, and climbs completely satisfied and rapidly. Throttle blips are rewarded with good hops in the air. Flying is smooth. The quad does have two "fee" modes, low and high. the small button beneath the throttle switches modes - one press provides a double beep for prime rates, another press gives one beep for low rates. In low, it moves around smoothly, and speed / tilt / yaw are easy to manage. In High, it get a bit extra spirited. Still simple to manage, but will keep inexperienced persons on their toes as it zips round. Experienced pilots will most likely need to jump straight to the excessive rates. Overall, the only unhealthy habit I found with the quad is with the throttle low vary. I want it was a bit smoother on the bottom end, because it appears to cut energy often when I am descending. And, as mentioned earlier than - flying unloaded, it almost won't hover, as a result of this.

Battery life

Battery life is good. I used to be persistently getting 6 minutes with the stock battery. One flight, I ran the first 3-4 minutes with the mini-figure, then the final half with out and got a strong 7 minutes flight. Overall, I just like the stock battery, no complaints. I did additionally fly the quad with some Amazon batteries I bought for my Syma X11. These are 380mah packs, with no printed C-rating. They are only flying for 5 minutes, with a noticeable decrease in punch. They do fly the quad good, however the inventory battery is healthier. As a facet word, Banggood sells a 5-pack of these batteries, with a multi-pack charger, for about $16.

Mods

So we now have an ideal flying quad, with good battery life, and power to spare, what to do? How about FPV! I had a EF-01 FPV digicam that I had used to FPV a small RC car, so I pulled it for the E011. The EF-01 came with a mounting plate that, as luck would have it, was an exact match for some unused mounting holes on the highest of the quad. The predominant battery plug for the quad was located in order that it was simple to solder on the camera power lead, so a couple of screws later, I was ready to fly FPV!

Camera energy wires soldered to the back aspect of the quad's battery plug

The EF-01 camera was very shut in weight to the mini-figure, so flying performance was similar. Unfortunately for me, my camera died before I might fly it more than a few quick flights (the digicam already had points from it's automotive obligation days). for certain, although, I will be ordering a brand new camera.

Summary

I have had a variety of enjoyable with this quad. It is a good flyer, has good battery life, and has plenty of energy. My children additionally prefer it - they will add Legos to it and construct cockpits and different stuff. The quad can raise a decent amount, however it'll run out of energy in about a dozen small blocks. With the ducted props, it simply bounces off of stuff when flying, so small bumps do not routinely imply crashes - which is good for studying to fly. Overall I actually appreciated this quad, and give it two thumbs up!
